We have taken the decision to add an extra member to the team here at St Joseph’s. Max the Sprocker Spaniel joined us in 2021. He visits school to provide some nurture and therapy support during wellbeing sessions. He also enjoys being taken for a walk in our extensive school grounds.
When he is not in school Max lives with Miss Atkinson and her family and enjoys long walks.
All children have taken home letters explaining our rationale behind getting a school dog and permission slips have been shared with families.
Max has already featured in the press as the Star covered his arrival at St Joseph’s.
New families joining St Joseph’s can request copies of previous letters from the school office which outline the rationale for getting a school dog.
The School Dog Policy is available from the school office on request.
Miss Atkinson is happy to talk to you about the school dog and answer any queries you may have.
Permission for your child to spend supervised time with Max the School Dog can now be given via the Arbor App.
