All children aged 3 and 4 are welcome to attend our nursery, regardless of whether you intend to send them to our Primary School.
Children are admitted to Nursery the term after their third birthday, but this will vary according to the number of places available and the number of children on the waiting list. We have two intakes each year into Nursery; in September and January. A copy of our Nursery Admissions Policy is available from the school office.
Please note: Attendance at our Nursery does not guarantee your child a place in our school.
The Nursery unit caters for 52 children on a part time basis – 26 children in the morning and 26 children in the afternoon. Children attend either five morning sessions or five afternoon sessions.
The staff in the Nursery consists of a full time teacher, a full time equivalent Nursery Nurse and a part time Teaching Assistant. The staff work closely as a team to provide a secure environment that promotes self awareness, self confidence and a sense of responsibility for themselves and others. Nursery children are encouraged to wear a uniform which we believe helps them to feel part of the school as a whole and is designed for ease of wear for the type of activities in the Nursery.
Young children learn most successfully through structured and carefully planned play activities. We aim to provide a wide range of activities that cover all areas of the Foundation Stage Curriculum. We hope the experiences that your child has in nursery will take him/her forward to meet the challenges and early expectations of the National Curriculum.
