Discover – Oak Class Autumn Term How it’s Made: Inventors and Inventions
This term is our Discover Topic in Oak class which is predominantly history based.
This term we are focussing on everyday things around us and their origins in our exciting new topic How it’s made. We will be travelling back to look at some ingenious designs from history and the famous faces behind them before creating our own Cracking Contraptions to showcase in our very own Museum of Modern Inventions at our Autumn term celebration afternoon.
In literacy we will be reading The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick and developing our writing skills across a range of genres.
In maths we are focusing on deepening our knowledge and application of Place Value and the four operations – especially addition and subtraction. In line with our new topic we will be inventing a new maths game. There will be a focus on improved table fact knowledge and Oak Class have started a Table challenge this week to improve rapid recall of known facts.
